Outdoor Education

At ACA in the past outdoor education has not been a formal class and simply consisted of trips put together by the school faculty. In 2005 ACA hired an outdoor Ed teacher and started an official Outdoor Ed program. Last year the High School Outdoor Ed class went to Yellowstone in the fall and Moab and Arches National Park in the spring. They learned about the geology of both parks from a Christian perspective and about the revelation of Gods glory through nature. At ACA we teach children about the biblical account of creation and to recognize God as the source behind all the beauty in nature.

The Outdoor Ed classes have gone on a variety of trips. The High School went to Yellowstone National Park for the last two years. They went for a week and they learned about the geology of this unique area and about the wildlife. The High school went to Arches National Park last spring for three days. They hiked, camped, and learned about Gods beautiful creation in this area. The Middle School went to Mesa Verde for four days last year. They camped and learned about the ancient anazasis. The Middle School went to the Black Canyon National Monument for two days. They camped out and learned about the rock layers shown in the canyon walls. The High School and Middle School went to the Shrine Mountain Inn above vail pass In the begining of this school year. The classes have also gone on many other small Outdoor Ed trips.
