DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
At Alpine Christian Academy, we seek to practice our faith according to the following basic beliefs contained in the Word of God. "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever." (Is. 40:8) We are convinced and believe.. .God is love! " And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him." (1 Jn. 4:16)
We believe:
• that God, the Creator of all things, made people in His own image, and that all persons have been separated from God by sin, that in His great love, God provided a way for us to return to Him through the substitutionary life and death of Jesus. "In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son to be the propitiation for our sins." (1Jn. 4:9-10)
• that God is One, eternal existent in three persons, God the Father,. God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. (Deaf. 6:4; Ps. 90:12, Is. 45:5-6; Mt. 3:16-17; 28:18-19; Jn. 10: 30-33; Rev. 1:8)
• that all persons, past and present, have sinned and that the only means of being cleansed from sin and its consequences is through the Blood of Jesus Christ; that spiritual regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for personal salvation; and that man is justified by faith in Jesus Christ apart from righteous deeds. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Rom. 3:23; Jn. 1:11-13; Jn. 3 14-18; Ro. 5: 6-10; Ro. 6:23)
• that Jesus Christ in His crucified body and shed blood provides healing for the whole person; spirit, soul and body. We believe in remembering the Lord's death in ordinance of the Lord's Supper.
• in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by Whose indwelling presence the believer is enabled to live a godly life which manifests the fruit of the Spirit. We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is available to all born-again believers as God's gift of power to witness and to live a victorious Christian life. (Ro. 11:29; Nu. 11:23; Mark 1:8; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1-39) To each person baptized in the Holy Spirit (Matt. 3:11) the manifestation and gifts of the Holy Spirit are given according to His will. (Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 12 & 14; Acts 10:44-48) All the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available today, including divine healing, miracles, prophecy and tongues. We encourage Christians to eagerly desire and use spiritual gifts. (Ro. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 7:7; Phil. 4:10-11)
• in the physical resurrection of both the redeemed and the unredeemed; the redeemed to everlasting life and the unredeemed to eternal condemnation and the banishment from the presence of God. We believe in the literal existence of a Heaven, which is the destination of the redeemed, and of the literal existence of Hell, which is the destination of the unredeemed, the fallen angels and Satan.
• in the reality of the personal existence of a spirit being known as Satan or the devil, who is regarded as our enemy and over whom every Christian may have victory through Jesus Christ.
• in water baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Such water baptism is for believers and represents an identification of the individual believer with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
• that the Scriptures consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, otherwise known as the Holy Bible, (not to include the books of the Apocrypha), is the only inspired and infallible Word of God, given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and is the only authoritative source of doctrine, rules and conduct for the Christian believer. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (Mm. 3:16) "He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God." (2Pet. 1:20-21)
