Brian / Buan Anderson
I was born just outside of Paris, France. My parents were missionaries in the Paris area and I lived in the same French suburb for the first 18 years of my life. I became a Christian at the age of six and slowly grew closer and more committed to Jesus through my teen years. In 1992 I left France to attend Wheaton College, IL where my parents had attended. Wheaton was a good training ground for me. However it was not until my first graduate class in Educational Ministries that God made it clear to me that He wanted me in ministry for the rest of my life. The blurry future suddenly came into focus. I was a city boy, but had a growing love for the outdoors after spending college summers in Breckenridge, CO. I became more passionate about camping ministry while taking graduate courses and working at Honey Rock Camp in Wisconsin. As I reviewed my life and the experiences God had given me I found that three areas were coming together, a heart for camping ministry, for the French people, and for my future wife and partner in ministry, Theresa. This was confirmed when I received French citizenship at the age of 23 despite trying to reject it. Since then, I have worked towards living and ministering in France permanently. In 1999 Theresa and I moved to Colorado, where I started working as an assistant youth pastor in
Glenwood Springs. We were married in September 2000. We have taken several missions trips to Mexico and France in the past 4 years, and our time here has been God’s best for us. The Lord granted us patience as we waited for His timing in bringing to fruition our vision for ministry in France.

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado in the towns of Leadville & Frisco. I am blessed to have been raised in the Church and to have parents who taught me to love Jesus. I became a Christian at the age of nine, but look back to middle and high school being the time when my faith really took root. I attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA for two years before transferring to Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL to complete a degree in Mathematics. While still working on my math degree—it was a lot of work—I began taking classes towards a master’s degree in Educational Ministries with an emphasis in camping ministry. I d the outdoors as long as I can remember, (give my parents credit for
that one too) and camping ministry seemed almost too good to be true. What an amazing way to be used by God and to teach young people about Jesus through experiencing Him in His amazing creation! After spending two years as a student and staff member at Honey Rock Camp, Wheaton’s camp in Northern Wisconsin, I moved back to Colorado, and within a year became Mrs. Anderson. While camping ministry has been in my heart for years, God has used the past five years to develop in me a passion for the French people to match my husband’s. It has been exciting to see changes in myself and to arrive at a place of being almost impatient for the day we will begin our life in France. One of the recurring
themes in my life is that God never fails us, He is faithful always. He has been faithful in my life up to this point, He is faithful today while we are in Colorado, and He will be faithful when we are in France.
